FAQ
1. Where is the best place to buy property in Italy?
The best place would really depend on your personal taste. Many people prefer the Northern area of the country due to its proximity to France, Germany and Switzerland and the variety of activities that one can have. The most popular areas are Milan, Tuscany and Liguria.
2. Will it be a good investment?
It is impossible to give exact statistics. Real estate trends change as people move in and out of a region. Italy remains one of the most popular choices for property in the global market. Property values are higher in northern and central Italy than in the South.
3. Are prices negotiable?
Italians love to bargain. You can state a higher amount than that indicated if you truly don’t want to lose out on a great property. On the other hand, you can also give lower prices and bargain until you and the owner come to an agreement that fits your budget.
4. How long will the sales process take?
The minimum is four weeks from the time that you sign the contratto preliminare (initial contract) or compromesso to the actual completion of sale. There is no maximum time limit set by the law.
